Guiding Principles

Ellen’s practice is guided by two overarching principles: preventive law and responsive service. With sufficient forethought and thorough planning, the financial and emotional costs of most legal conflicts are avoidable. Regular checkups on her clients’ legal “health” are designed to uncover and correct issues before they become difficult and costly problems. Beyond checkups, significant life events like the following can be important times to revisit estate plans:
  • Marriage
  • Start up, purchase or sale of a business
  • Change in financial circumstances
  • Separation or divorce
  • Birth of a child
  • Purchase or sale of a house
  • Change in employment status
  • A child reaching age 18
  • Illness
  • Death
  • Parents becoming frail
Ellen strives to become a trusted member of her clients’ professional teams and places great importance on listening and responsiveness. Rather than dictating a predetermined course of action, Ellen takes her cues from her clients: what objectives they wish to accomplish, in what time frame, and with what resources.
